Agnes So
Artist

Physics and mathematics have always played a key factor in my practice. There is great excitement when discovering that objects have capabilities to perform in a different manner to its original role. My latest interest has been on levitation as a foil to gravitational concerns. Gravity as a reality, a law we abide by, versus the illusionistic pursuit of weightlessness.

As an artist, I am expected to make. Instead, I find myself making do. There's a lot of chance involved where materials are concerned. I don't often go hunting for objects; merely they find themselves in my possession. The journey that meeting is sometimes unclear. Whatever system they were part of is only something I can speculate.

Rocket - video piece
Weight - tape/stick piece

*They co-existed as one work for that particular exhibition which included the wall (rendered as an object through the use of paint) as an anchor to the two.
